What got you to where you are today?
In the process of growing and leading, I’m sure we all thought whether we were truly improving or making a difference. I know I have. The reality is, one day we pause for a moment and see the distance we have traveled in our growth. Keep in mind, we are still not there. Our growth must be continuous, if we want it to make a difference in the life of others. That pause is important too. You and I did some stuff, and we are good at stuff, too. Never forget that. Never wonder if you are enough or did enough because you are.
We are all unique, with specific characteristics in our DNA. We have gifts and experiences, no one else has, given to us by God. Perseverance is one characteristic many leaders have. They can push through so much adversity. They stay on the course, and keep everything flowing and moving forward. Leaders also share intuition; they see or feel things faster than most. They have a gut feeling, or a specific way they deal with people. That intuition comes with years of experience. What characteristics make up your inner workings?
Leaders gain insight from mentors and other leaders. No one goes into an organization knowing how to lead, much less lead well. There is always a person who took them under their wing and guided them through the leadership process. Who is that person for you, is it someone in your field, or a friend? If you lack that mentor, I encourage you to find one. You will never regret the decision.
As I indicated in the introduction, our growth is always continuous. It is a never-ending process to build the life you want; one of significance. Those who see a finish line, limit themselves. Our growth is not a finish line, it is a way of life. We must always be engaged in a learning and growth process every day. You only got to this point in your life through the mistakes you made, hard work, and determination. Don’t stop now, keep pushing yourself out of that comfort zone.
What characteristics do you have that made you a success?
Who led you in life decisions and supported you?
What drives you today to meet the demands of life?
Pause for a minute. Can you see the great and magnificent things you have accomplished? They are right there, in front of you. But wait! There is more to come, more to learn from, you can continue to stretch yourself. Go for it, and thanks for looking in on this week’s post.
