The Pursuit of My Goal

How do we make our goals a reality?

So, I am currently working on another goal that will strengthen my coaching abilities. Full disclosure, I am a work in progress just like everyone else. In a nutshell, I hope to gain more experience as a coach and develop my craft. For a long time, I have read and studied about coaching. Since my training with the Maxwell Leadership Team, a new excitement has risen in me. I want to help others like me, who want more for their lives. My hope is that my process will spark an idea in someone, that will get them moving on their goals and aspirations.

Identifying the goal has been my priority. I could never really drill down to what I was after. The more I explored the concept of coaching and familiarized myself with the Maxwell Leadership organization, the more my eyes have been opened to my desires. In my mind a coach must be strong in the practice of coaching and offer content to potential clients. I must know what I am talking about and have something that fulfills their needs. I hope that creating content will give me credibility.  This is why I started a blog three years ago. I knew I had something to share. I never expected to gain a following because that was not important for me. Sharing my experiences and my voice was the goal and still is. Now that goal has developed into something bigger.

Identify primary tasks that create momentum towards the goal. Specifically, I want to offer a Mastermind course, DISC assessments, and grow my blog which I could develop into a book one day. Speaking to groups will eventually be a big part of that process. I talk in front of groups of teachers, school board members, and the community. One day, as I continue to alter my goals, this will be more about my content and my message.

Acting on the identified tasks is a must. Without action my goal will never come true, and is only a wish. If I think about offering a group of people a Mastermind book study, that’s fine. When I copy the flyer that advertises the Mastermind and share it at a meeting, with a starting date, that is on a whole other level of reality. Action steps mean actions will happen.

Assess, identify the next task, and repeat. I may have only one person interested in a Mastermind course but that is one person who will grow and help me improve my craft. It does not matter how large of a step or improvement that is made; rather it is about forward progress. The advancement of your goal and your growth.

Have you identified the goal that rises above the rest and why is that the one?

What tasks are the obvious first steps?

What actions must you take right now to achieve this goal?

Have the identified tasks given you further direction and what is your next move?

Will my process work to meet my goal? I don’t know. What I do know is I am advancing and moving beyond where I am now. I am growing and developing myself. We are all chasing something, maybe a job-related achievement or maybe something in our personal lives. Find whatever process works for you and get after it every day. It will come when it is meant to. Have a great week and thanks for checking out this post. Please leave a comment that will contribute to this conversation.
