Remain Enthusiastic

Are you still excited about your goals and aspirations?

I have a lot to be thankful for. How about you? There are so many changes coming my way that I would like to celebrate but remain in the here and now. I was reading and came across something about creating a vision for myself. I struggle with putting a vision together and creating a plan of action to achieve it. It reminded me of John Maxwell’s teachings on dreams, and whether we are asking if our dreams are big enough and truly making us happy. I was wondering if that is why I haven’t created a vision/mission or established my steps towards a dream. I have a lot of things I would like to do in life, but always fall short of creating steps to achievement. For me, I start a process to gather my thoughts on an aspiration or goal I have, only to lose focus. I tend to put it aside and forget about it. There is no sense of urgency on my part. So, as I was reading the other night, I was reminded that I must remain engaged and excited about the stuff I want to achieve. I lose my enthusiasm at times but regain it when I’m reminded of that inner excitement as I chase my dreams. This post, I hope will assist others like me.

Our priority must always be the engagement in what brings us joy and makes us excited. We must ask what we wish to achieve and then work towards that goal.          This means setting sub-goals and action steps for each sub-goal. We must intentionally schedule our goals and interweave the steps to those goals in our daily routines. This is where most leaders lose their way. At times, our work schedules and the day-to-day routines rule us. We fail to make time for personal plans/dreams that we are very enthusiastic about. If we want to be the best version of ourselves, we must make time for the things that make us feel fulfilled.

We must remain enthusiastic for ourselves and around our people too. Maybe your job is the area that you are enthusiastic about. When we show our people, we are excited about our day and working with them they in turn also show that enthusiasm. Creating an environment within our organizations that has a positive energy helps leaders and the organization achieve more.

We also can help our situation out by reflecting on past behaviors that could hinder those next steps. Have we all made mistakes or missed opportunities? Honest reflections help us make more efficient decisions for the future. As leaders move from one position to another, they have gained more insight or learned a better way of doing business. We must never lose the learning we gain from these changes on our path.

Having a partner to keep you on task has been shared here before. When we surround ourselves with people who share in our enthusiasm, our goals are easier to achieve. Partners help us keep our eyes on the prize. They keep us engaged in our process and help us re-engage when we lose focus or have missteps along the way.

What is something you have worked towards that makes you excited?

How are you showing enthusiasm and excitement in your daily routines?

When was the last time you reflected on previous mistakes or needed improvements?

Who are the partners that share your passion and help you achieve your goals?

I am secure within myself to share my struggles. Maybe my struggles will help others feel safe enough to seek answers to their questions. I hope all who read this post can find what makes them excited and they can share that enthusiasm with others. I appreciate everyone who checks in this week and please leave your comments below and add to the conversation.
