Our Gifts

What gifts do you and the people of the organization bring to the table?

This week many of us will celebrate Christmas, and the season of giving. We give so much of ourselves without expecting to be acknowledged. We take for granted what we offer others and what our friends bring to the organizations and to us personally. This week I had plans to acknowledge my people, and it was affirmed by the message I received in church. I understand many people believe different things and by no means am I trying to push my beliefs on to my readers. This week’s message is very simple, everyone in our organizations are gifts. Our people bring their strengths and passions to their jobs every day. We all benefit because of each person in the organizations we work in.

Our organizations are made up of several individuals who bring their all to what they do each day. As I ponder my school district, I think of all the gifts my people bring to one another, the schools, and students. The Elementary teachers bring so much to the table. The youngest of our students see them right away in the morning and are greeted with a loving smile and many times a hug or morning greeting. My Elementary teachers have the gift of being that special person in a child’s life. Our kids are so lucky to have loving and passionate educators in their corner. The High School teachers offer so much passion in the subjects they teach. They bring that individualized focus and effort for their students; and not to mention the one-on one guidance they offer every day. Some of our older students just want to be heard and share their dreams and frustrations with a trusted adult; this is the gift my High School teachers bring. Our High School teachers do this every day without even realizing how important these conversations are. Teachers are not the only people helping our kids. We cannot forget our coaches, custodians, cooks, paraprofessionals, and administrative assistance who see our students every day. These people also bring gifts to our schools by build relationships with students and offer additional guidance for kids. My people bring so many gifts to my schools and the students. We may not always agree with one another, but the mission is the same; teach and love our students.

Look for the gifts your people bring to the organization.

Take a moment over the Holidays to give yourself the gift of rest and relaxation.

What gifts are you preparing to offer those around you in the coming New Year?

I hope you acknowledge the gifts in your life. Have a great Holiday season and I hope you find time for yourself. Please leave your comments below and thanks for reading this week’s post.
