Limitless Part 1

Have your thoughts limited you?

Some of us allow ourselves to interfere with personal growth and risk taking. I am no stranger to my own imprisonment of myself, due to limited thinking or low self-confidence. It is a constant battle each day. This came to my attention recently, as I put my thoughts into my graduation introduction I had to give for the class of 2020. Specifically, a moment where I allowed some limited thinking to enter my thoughts, disguised as anger and sadness.

Students around the nation are experiencing difficult times as COVID-19 affects memorable events such as graduations. As I sat, contemplating what I wanted to say I became angry and sad for these kids. They were missing out on their Senior year and the graduation ceremony was not the same as before. I then chose to reflect on these students, and it occurred to me that this limited belief was wrong. Instead, this world-event was a learning opportunity for these kids and adults. This event reminds us that things in life do not always go as planned, but this opposition to our plans can prepare us for later opportunities we may face. I call these moments of difficulty, opportunities. Opportunities to grow and develop. Students affected by this moment in our history will be so much stronger than we will give them credit for. This will test their determination and I have no doubt that they will flourish and do something great in our world.

I see myself as a learner, who always tries to develop myself and be better each day. By no means am I perfect, as I shared of my recent limited thought process. It also occurred to me that when I started my Leading Conversations Blog, I never introduced myself, and why I chose to start this process. My Limitless posts will give you some insight as to who I am, as well as a view of my personal journey. Everyone has a path they have endured, and mine is nothing special or earth shattering. What I hope to share and discover will shed some light on my purpose and why I chose this path.

My challenge for you today, is to look for those moments when you think you cannot be or do something. Acknowledge your limited thought processes.

How have you limited your thoughts and actions?

What risks are you taking today?

Great message-we can push past, if we pay attention to those limiting thoughts!
