Who is your hero?
We all have people in our lives who played key roles in making us who we are. They rescued us during our lowest lows and have been our greatest supporters. As a kid, I saw heroes as soldiers, police officers and firemen. As I grew up, the greatest heroes were always my parents. I just didn’t realize it. They both have sacrificed things to give me a great life and raised me right. My sister and I always had what we needed and knew we were loved. It’s not uncommon for people to see their parents as heroes. Recently, one of my heroes had a health scare. It rattled me. Sitting in the hospital gave me time to reflect on my life with them and I was filled with gratitude. I hope one day my kids might see me as a hero. That got me to thinking, are we living a life to become someone’s hero?
Becoming a hero doesn’t mean we have to rush into a burning orphanage and rescue dozens of precious children. I would hope if we stumbled upon a burning orphanage, we would take the time to help. My point is, being a hero is doing good deeds each day no matter how small the act may be. Small acts can lift people up. When I have fixed toys for my kids, you would have thought I was Superman himself. Being a hero can be easy and the bonus is you don’t have to wear tights or capes. Our heroes may change over time as individuals come and go through our lives. Having good values and respect for others combined with quality interactions make us heroes. Each interaction you have can and will affect those around you. Make sure they are positive; and you too could be a hero.
We also have heroes right under our noses that we take for granted. Men, I’m talking about our wives. They are our sounding board when we have a bad day. Our wives are our biggest cheerleaders and supporters of our dreams. They take care of the home and children better than us. They are heroes. Yes ladies, your husbands are heroes too. We may not always appear to be a hero. When I fix something for my wife, I just might be. We can show our significant others we are their heroes by being present and being available to them always. Loving and supporting each other every day make us heroes in the eyes of our loved ones. Lastly, for me the greatest hero of all time is Jesus Christ. I believe with all my heart that he has saved me and has been my example of what a true hero is.
When was the last time you told your hero how important they are to you?
Who are you trying to be a hero for?
What actions could you take to be a hero to others?
Who is your example of a true hero?
There are heroes everywhere! They enter our lives and help us and support us. I hope you have a hero in your life and most importantly I hope you can be a hero for others. Thanks for checking in, and I hope you have a great week full of positive interactions. Please leave your comments below and share your hero stories.
