What is your dream or major goal?
I often speak about personal growth. It real is something I am always sharing about. I apologize if I sound like a broken record to my readers. I just can’t help myself; I talk about it to often. My last post was all about those who cheer us on and support us. This week I want to give everyone some insight to what I am currently dabbling in.
As I have shared before I got started writing my blog to share my voice, but what do I have to share? My answer to that would be, I have no idea what I want to share. My goal some day is to write a book. What do I plan to write about? Again, I have no idea. What I will tell you is, there is a process involved and I am always developing and changing that process.
First, we need to gather experiences and learning before we can offer anyone guidance. I have been in education now for 24 years, am I an expert? Absolutely not, because we experience many things through our lives that provide us learning. These experiences help us develop as learners and hopefully teachers of others. Over the course of my career I have seen many things in the field of education that have changed and in turn changed my thought process about education in general. I am still on a path of constant development and change. The experiences I have, both good and bad provide great learning for my future.
Another step is to share your thoughts, as I asked you to do in my last post. What learning have you gained, and how are you sharing that learning? My goal has been to share my voice, but I am currently trying other avenues to share my thoughts. One obvious way is this blog. Thanks for reading, by the way. I then share my posts on my other social media sites such as, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. My next step is to create a podcast and, I have since tried a new app and created that podcast. My hope is to tie together my blog and podcast into a book one day. My podcast is not ready yet, and what I am doing now is simply planning my next steps.
Sharing your personal development process with others, such as those who support you and like-minded professionals who are looking for change or growth as well is so important. This part is so important to me. If we stay comfortable, where we are, we risk staying the same. We must seek out individuals who wish to share in conversations centered around developing ourselves to be better in some aspect of life. Recently, I was asked to be part of book group with another Superintendent. I was so honored that this well known and experienced individual asked me to join him in this process. We share a passion for personal growth and specifically the author John C. Maxwell. There is no doubt this process can open more doors and allow me to share and learn from others in similar situations with similar mindsets.
Have your life experiences allowed you the luxury of teaching others?
What methods can you use to share your learning with others?
Who can you reach out to, to get started on a growth plan or process for learning?
I am not an expert in much, but I am trying. I hope you understand that you too may not be an expert, but what you do have are experiences that can benefit others in their learning and personal growth. I wish you luck on your journey of self-improvement, whatever it is go after it! I thank you for checking out my blog. Please leave your thoughts and ideas in a comment below. Have a great week!
