Why do people lose focus on the big picture they have for their life?
What is our, “Big Picture?” It might be an identified goal, but it should be bigger than one goal, right? Our life has a bigger version, and it is different for everyone. It comes down to expectations we envision for our future. Our big picture should be the positive view we wish to bring to the world, as we live that positive message every day. Yes, we will have missteps and failures along the way, but we can’t lose our focus. Our day-to-day choices will never be perfect. Paying attention to our decisions and daily choices, to be sure they align to our vision and values, is important. Do you have a vision of your big picture?
The expectations for our lives are always centered around the goals and dreams we have. What are the characteristics of a successful life and the relationships within it? Whether we just want to be a great spouse, parent, and a productive member of society is perfectly fine. Yet, some of us fail to stay on that path. Our personal values play a role in the vision we have in achieving the big picture. Those values are beliefs on which we will never waver. When we live a life true to our values, success is sure to follow. Why do we make choices that slow or stop our progress towards that big picture view? It is because we fail to keep the vision of our big picture in the forefront of our daily lives. Every choice we make, no matter how insignificant we think it is, must align to our values and the vision we have for our life. It takes a lot of dedication and perseverance to remain focused on that big picture view of our life. I struggle every day to stay focused on my vision, but I have faith in my values and decision making. I live that vision every day.
What characteristics have you identified in your big picture view of life?
How do your values align to your life’s big picture, and are you living those daily?
What choices can you make that will ensure the achievement of your big picture?
That big picture we wish to achieve is within our grasps, but we must identify and keep it in focus each day. We must coach ourselves through that big picture vision, and if necessary, find a coach or accountability partner to help. If you haven’t identified what your big picture life vision is yet, I hope you start today. Thanks for checking in this week and please leave a comment that will contribute to this conversation.
