Everyone Has An Opinion

Do you allow the critics to impact your positive mindset?

Why do we choose to react to people that point out some way we missed their expectation? We then feel as though we failed, even when we are doing our best. We all have critics, especially in leadership. People are critical of us all the time, but we cannot let their perspective or comments affect our positive minds or our purpose. I have witnessed selfless people doing so much good for everyone else, but when one person finds a fault, they feel the need to criticize. I am as guilty of this as anyone. I see faults in others, but the difference is I choose to acknowledge the good I find. Where we go wrong, as the person being criticized is we allow it to affect our minds. We then stumble in our thoughts, and we beat ourselves up over it. We must stay true to ourselves.

How do we stay true to ourselves, despite others’ views of us? We must know ourselves very well. We need to understand the values we live by. These are what guide us. If we make decisions and behave based on our values and beliefs, we live a true life. How others view us is not as important as we believe. We become distracted by how others view us, and we must accept that people we see what they want to see. This is true in our views of others as well. We see what we choose to see. I choose to see my people for the value they bring to our organization. Yes, we see the faults of some. We must look passed those and see them for their values and beliefs because that is what truly aids us as a human being and builds a positive organization.

It is important to continue to work on ourselves. We change with every experience and evolve over the years. Yes, we even lose sight of our values and beliefs. Many of us can get caught up in how people’s opinions impact us. The feelings of frustration, judgement or failure make us bitter or short-tempered. Feelings such as these are exhausting and drain us of our values that drive our purpose in life. Therefore, it is important to work on ourselves as often as we can. We must set aside time to develop ourselves. Once a week is a minimal effort, we could take to invest in ourselves. Check in on our values, to ensure we are following our true path in life.

How are you living out your values daily?

What interactions with others bothers you most?

How do you envision yourself dealing with your critics?

How have experiences changed you and your values?

By living a purposeful life, in which we live by key values; we live a peaceful existence. Stay true to yourself and work on yourself. We will have critics that will only acknowledge how we failed them. Do not allow this distraction to overshadow the good you do. Our critics are only distractions that threaten our positive minds. Thanks for checking in this week. I hope you all focus on the good you do this coming week and stay true to yourself. Please leave your comments below because I would love to hear your thoughts.
