What fuels your dreams and gives you the energy to achieve?
I am a big fan of Andy Frisella. His Podcast, Real AF is great, but I enjoy his email messages the most because they get me jacked up and excited about my goals. They give me energy and fuel my passion for growth. It is amazing what the power of words will do for our attitudes. However, Andy Frisella has taught me that we cannot depend on the words of others, no matter how good they are. If we want something bad enough, we must go out and get it. We must harness the energy within us and use it to our advantage.
Our internal energy can be created through prayer, self-talk, and visualization exercises. These exercises or habits can fuel our wants and needs. We can achieve more when we are feeling good from within. Our self-talk must be positive. We need to make time to visualize our goals and match them with the right energy. Even in our minds our energy must be at an appropriate level. Our internal dialogue must have an exciting tone to it. So, what are you saying to yourself?
Energy can come from our cheerleaders. The people closest to us, who witnessed our struggles are generally the ones who continuously push us. Without their constant encouragement and feedback, we may fall short of our goals. The cheerleaders and mentors in our lives have the greatest value. Most people chase their goals all alone with no one giving them advice or a helping hand. The journey alone is more difficult than any, but with someone helping along the way it becomes easier.
Energy can come through audio or visual aids. Who has seen the Rocky movies with Sylvester Stallone or the movie Rudy? Ever been to a great concert with your favorite band? Movies and music are external sources that can energize our minds and hearts. People will never enter my office when music is not playing. It is a constant motivator that drives my energy. The right tunes can motivate us through the most difficult situations, and yet, calm us and offer relaxation. What are you listening to?
Energy can come from those who doubt us or criticize our goals. When we have the positive energy necessary to accomplish our goals, the critics will be silenced. When I am passionate about a goal nothing anyone can say will stop me. Tell me I cannot do something will only make me want it more, especially if it’s a goal of mine. The criticalness of others can be a huge motivator. Many athletic teams have not been taken seriously over the years. They were considered the underdogs and their opponents looked pasted them, expecting to win but didn’t.
How are you gaining energy through visualization and self-talk?
Who is your biggest cheerleader or mentor that energizes you?
What types of media give you exciting energy and why?
How will you harness the negative energy and use it for motivation?
We must never forget that we are the drivers of our dreams. We control our energy through our attitudes and efforts toward a goal. Other people’s feelings or comments are irrelevant and mean nothing unless they are on our team. When we harness our energy, we can meet any demand. I hope you can harness your positive energy and achieve your goals this week. Thanks for checking in and please leave a comment below that will contribute to this conversation.
