How does our energy show up in our lives and is it what we want to show others?
Recently, someone I know had the unfortunate experience of a dog fight and in the process of trying to break up the fight, was bitten. It was later discovered that in the dogs’ excited state of mind this person’s energy contributed to the vicious attack. This person will forever wear the scares on her hands. I can recall watching people get so worked up about an issue and pull other people into the drama, making several people anxious or frustrated by the issue. This week, I wanted to share how our energy and that of others might hinder life and cause aggravation.
Mirroring the energy of others is dangerous. When someone acts with anger or frustration, people around them feel like they are walking on eggshells. They fear that anything they say will offend that person further. It is interesting to watch when a person’s energy is elevated over a negative situation, and how people around them fall into the trap of reacting the same way. I have seen it so often. We must remember that someone’s emergency or frustration does not have to be ours. Be careful of this trap, as it is easy to fall into. Keep your energy guarded by not joining in the negativity.
Negative vibes kill the mood. This is often when someone reacts to a comment with a negative response, such as rolling their eyes or sighing loudly. We see it so often that it has become a predictable part of our lives. I believe we are guilty of doing this and don’t even realize it. Our reaction is better when we want to see the other side of an argument or another person’s perspective. Instead of becoming frustrated by an idea or stance on an issue; see how it could be a feasible idea, and make a positive effort.
Positive energy leads the day in the right direction. We all have experienced a colleague or friend we work with that just makes our day better. They always have a smile and kind words. The best part is, they probably make us laugh a lot. These individuals are our north stars, who led us in the proper direction. Their example is what we are striving for every day. Follow their ways, be a positive example for someone each day. Even if it is only one person a week. Be that example for them and soon you will find it giving you energy that fosters the desire to create more positive experiences for others. How will you share positivity today?
We can create the energy we want and stifle what we dislike. We must show up with the right mindset and intentionally try to be a positive role model for others. We cannot control how others show up or how they behave. If their attitude stinks, that is on them, not us. We must rise above it and be better. By choosing a positive mind, behavior, and actions we will gain a better following of our peers. The choice is easy, and it is up to you to be that positive light for others.
Have you ever reacted with similar frustration or anger around others?
What is it like being around someone who has a negative attitude?
How do we start the day with happiness and gratitude?
What actions or commitments can you take to reduce the negative mood?
Our energy comes with us to everything we do. We could act like others or react to those around us with a negative attitude. A better way is to show up with a great mindset and intentionally behaving like someone others want to be around. I know you want to create a better way for yourselves and others. I know you will show up this week and answer this challenge. Thanks for checking out this post and please leave a comment that will contribute to this conversation.
