How do we manage the tidal wave of issues that need solving?
Ever have a challenging situation make you want to admit defeat, but then you found appreciation in the fight for success? Been there, done that! When I have experienced challenging times, there were moments when I was far from my happy place. The reality is, we can fight through adversity and still find and create success. Do we always see the positive aspect, a benefit, or the glory in the fight? Not always, but we should really start to see how we have won that fight. Within the chaos something great is brewing.
Often, when chaotic situations or personal issues occur, we get over stimulated with worry or anger. It is hard to remain calm at times, as you feel the stress of needing to solve your problems. For some people, they can take a breath and restrain the first reactions. Do they want to attack at time? You bet they do. The best advice before reacting to a situation is to give yourself a moment to pause, collect your thoughts, take a deep breath, exhale, then respond. Our mistake is when we jump into a reaction with an over stimulated mind to solve an issue. Remaining calm internally will keep you on the correct path.
With a constant flow of issues and problems facing you there is no doubt we get a desire to walk away. Similarly, to remaining calm, we must ask for further information before we can react or make changes. When more information is needed, it is ok to say we do not know or have all the answers. Do not take everything personal either. Issues in an organization will cause fear and anger among the people. These people may lash out at you. That is how they choose to respond to the stresses, but it is not necessary for you to respond negatively. This is another opportunity to control your inner self.
As we face the problems in life, we can manage stress by breaking it down to more manageable chunks. We can be more successful in dealing with these by categorizing those issues into certain parts of our lives. We can then examine strategies to deal with the problems that fester and cause us stress. We are controlling our responses as well as our decisions.
Realizing that when people express concerns, could indicate there is a need that must be fulfilled. Concerns expressed are simply the hopes of others. You have a chance to be a hero and not the zero, embrace the challenges. When people express concerns or act angry, they are seeking help for the organization they serve. These people care, and want to do the best job they can with what they have. Again, our reaction must be correct. See these concerns as a sign to create winning results and opportunities for growth and improvement for all.
How do you remain calm during stressful situations?
How are you gathering information that will assist in solving the problems?
What organizational strategies could help you categorize issues?
Are you failing to see the positive path within the darkness of a situation?
Our lives are filled with overwhelming issues and problems that cause us to react poorly. There is a better way that starts with controlling our reactions and responses. When we remain calm, seek more information, categorize our issues into manageable pieces, and see the positives in every situation our lives will be amazing. I hope you have created a mindset that allows you to react correctly and see better ways in dealing with problems.
