Anticipation

What are you excited about or looking forward to, today?

In our last post we discussed jumping on our decisions, even if we may get them wrong. How do those decisions relate to what you are excited about? Are the current decisions part of a process for your future, or simply a way of living day to day? I hope the decisions you are making this week are part of a greater process that will bring you future successes. This coming week I am off to an event I had planned earlier this fall.            My anticipation is overwhelming. I am filled with excitement as I pursue another step towards a personal and professional goal. I would even classify it as one of my biggest dreams. So, what exciting steps are you taking today?

We all have a dream or goal we are excited about and anytime we get to work within that we grow with excitement. What is the goal or dream you are working towards and how are you fostering that excitement? Who shares our vision of this dream? We must live our dreams and work hard each day to get after them. It is easier to gain momentum towards our dream when we have a cheerleader or trusted friend who sees our dream too. Ultimately, the dream we seek is ours and we are the only ones who really feel the pulling it causes in our heart and mind. We alone have the internal passion to chase after the dream.

If our goals and dreams are important to us, we must be willing to make sacrifices. Each person will make judgements on what those sacrifices are. There will be time commitments, financial sacrifice, or reduction of family time. With each sacrifice we step closer to our dreams, but some of the sacrifices we commit to will be too great. Poor judgement of what is appropriate for us can cause us to fail in our dreams. To large of a sacrifice will eat us up on the inside. What are you willing to give up getting to where you want in life?

Inevitably there will come a time when we lose our way or feel the desire to give up when things look bleak. Often, this is because we lose our focus, or we are unsure of the next steps we need to take.   If we anticipate our setbacks, we may see a way to maneuver through them before they occur. This is an opportunity for planning ahead. Anticipation is not always viewing things in a positive way; it is also seeing what a bump in the road may be.

Regardless of any type of setback or the exhaustion we may feel, we still must remain excited. We feel the anticipation that surrounds us as we progress towards our goals. It is an amazing thing to remain excited each day. Sure, it is easy to lose the zest from time to time, but it is extraordinary to remain in that excited state of mind. Holding onto our excitement is how we stay the course and fight for what we want to become.

What is the goal you are chasing and why does it excite you?

What sacrifices have you made or are willing to make for this dream?

How will you remain focused on this dream and see past the setbacks?

What does it take for you to remain excited about your dream?

We can view anticipation in two ways. We can see this anticipation for the excitement and value we find in our dream, or we can view it as seeing the potential pitfalls that may likely come our way. I hope you get the opportunity to chase your dream and remain excited the whole time. I appreciate that you looked in on this post and would love to hear your viewpoint as well. Enjoy your week!
