What accomplishments are you proud of this week?
We are at the half-way point of our school year. Many things have transpired over the course of this year and as we have entered 2021 it is important to share what we are proud of. I was always raised to be humble and not think of myself better than others. We also need to look back and acknowledge what we have done recently that we are proud of. This is difficult for me. I am sure there are people who do not share my enthusiasm for what I feel were accomplishments. In a leadership position, to often we are critiqued, and we never take the time to be proud of our efforts. We also need to share when our people have made accomplishments to better themselves, their community, or the organization they work in.
First, we must acknowledge our self-improvement efforts. I am sure I sound like a broken record, as I continue to focus on self-improvements in most of my posts and conversations. I believe in my whole-heart that we must be reviewing ourselves how ever we think is best. Looking within to assess are thoughts and actions to be a good person as well as improve ourselves. Maybe we do this through our spirituality or religion. We must stop, take a breath, and look at what we have accomplished. We often dwell on our shortfalls and focus too much on negative situations. The only way to avoid this, is to intentionally stop our negative thoughts and redirect them to something we are proud of. For me, my happiness is family, especially my kids. They are my driving force.
Second, we should see how we have helped others. Our efforts should help others. Every growth minded leader and author I have ever listened to, always talks of improving the life of others as the most important task we undertake. We intend to help one another, and this is often overlooked in many organizations. We complete our work each day with little reflection to how we have helped those around us. We must be proud of each effort we take that helps the people around us. So, take time to reflect on how you helped someone and look for additional opportunities to lend a hand.
Finally, what steps are we looking to continuously develop for future improvements? If we want to continue to see our accomplishments, we must capitalize on the areas we are succeeding in. Take a moment this week to categorize some of your recent accomplishments. Look for private or family accomplishments and work-related accomplishments. List them in categories that make sense to you and look for the opportunity to build upon those accomplishments to make them bigger and better. Remember, to be thinking about your internal dialogue as it relates to these accomplishments. Intentional self-talk gets you thinking about the great things you have done, is so important to continuous development of yourself.
What parts of your life are you not acknowledging the good you have done?
Where have you made efforts to help or improve those around you?
Are you monitoring your inner dialogue to ensure a positive path and outlook?
Remember, it is healthy to be proud of your accomplishments!
I hope you have some great things to be proud of. Never forget that you are great at what you do and that you have a lot to offer the world. Take time this week to acknowledge the accomplishments you have made. Please leave your comments below and have a great week.
