Living The Dream

What energy do you bringing to those around you each day?

When people ask me how I’m doing, I often respond with, “Living the Dream.” This is a silly, yet sarcastic, way I say I’m all right. It is a statement saying, I’m neither great nor in a foul mood. People laugh in most instances, but is that the energy I wish to convey? I often tell students that they have the power to decide how they want to show up or be on any given day. How often do we show up with bad energy? We must greet people with a fresh and positive way. Every interaction must make those around us feel seen, and valued. This is a simple, yet important way we can allow those in our lives to feel amazing, and like they are living a dream.

Our day-to-day greetings say a lot about our mindsets, and how we choose to engage with those around us. We have all met people who light up the room and make those around them feel a sense of happiness, just how they greet people. Their energy seems to fill the room with positiveness and everyone in their presence feels welcomed and acknowledged. We too can be that person for others. We could make others feel special, as we focus on them, inquiring about how they are doing. Simply asking how a person is doing or showing compassion to someone makes them feel special in your presence. Who is that person for you? Who always greets you with enthusiastic energy, making you feel great? Do they know the positive impact they have on your day? If not, it is about time you tell them. We each have an individual at work or in our private lives who cares for us and unselfishly shares their positive vibe each day. That person is worth their weight in gold because they share a special gift with each person they interact with.

What does your standard greeting say about you?

How are you filling the cups of others?

Who brings positive energy, and how do they bring enthusiasm to your day?

Living a dream must mean we have everything we could ask for. When I tell people that, it should be true, right? We can change our day with a better message, and in return, brighten the day for others. Are you living the dream, grateful for those around you? Engage yourself with your people this week, showing them, they are valued, appreciated, and cared for, just on how you greet them.
