Hesitation

Ever wonder why we hesitate briefly, while we chase our personal goals?

Recently, I heard the word Hesitation from a Minute With maxwell video. The point made in the video was that hesitating could benefit us in some way. Of course, this made me think of timing, and how things happen for us because of a brief waiting period. Waiting too long can turn into procrastination. Procrastination is bad for our goals, especially if we do it too often. Why do we hesitate or procrastinate? Hesitation says we are waiting for everything to align in our favor, and then we are moving towards something. Procrastination says we fear something, or we are not seeing the correct path. Procrastination does not necessarily say we are moving towards something. Do you know the difference between the two, as it relates to your life and goals?

Timing is everything when we try to advance our careers, achieve goals, and fulfill our dreams. Hesitating for a moment allows everything to fall in place. Hesitating for just a bit shows we are patient, and want everything to be exactly right. We get ourselves off track when hesitation turns into procrastination. Procrastination is often the reason so many dreams and goals fail, which I have struggled with myself. Knowing when you are hesitating and when you are procrastinating is a valuable skill. Procrastination, in my opinion, comes from fear. The fear of being good enough, smart enough, or thinking people will see us as dumb, are thoughts we encounter when chasing our goals and dreams. That fear then makes us wait. This isn’t the timing or hesitation we are talking about. This is second guessing where and what we want to be or achieve. The only way to understand the two, in my opinion, is a clear vision of what we are trying to accomplish. If our vision is clear, we have already identified a path to accomplishment. We know that a brief period of waiting for things to align is part of that vision. Procrastination and fear are not a step in our plans. We may experience them, but they are not a step, and we must move past them.

Where are you hesitating in your life and personal development?

Are you hesitating or procrastinating with your goals and dreams?

What steps are you taking to identify when you have lost vision of your goals?

Hesitating is ensuring the timing is right, and all the puzzle pieces are in place for those goals and dreams to come true. Our period of waiting is a double-edged sword. Waiting too long allows fear and second guessing to come in, which causes us to procrastinate. I hope you can identify the difference between the two. Thanks for checking in this week.
