What is clouding your vision and getting in the way of your dream?
Everyday situations can cause a cloudy view of the direction we are heading. Whether we are working on a task related to our dream, or something we are doing at work, things occur that stop our flow. Outside interferences are generally what derails us. Recently, I had the pleasure of having a negative exchange that would have derailed me in my younger years. I was able to push through it, and see another perspective. I moved forward with my day’s plan, without it causing me to faulter and lose focus. Leadership is a lot like that, as we must push through a situation to keep focus on our goals.
In the infant stages of our goals and dreams, we are easily deterred. The littlest things can cause us to second guess our plans and make us lose focus. The moments and exchanges we have daily appear to be like clouds of an incoming storm. We can’t seem to see our dream on the horizon, through all the clouds and fog. The great news is, just when we think all is lost, we have another exchange. A positive exchange we were not expecting, an exchange that gives us clarity, and supplies us with a lesson we needed at that very moment. Someone comes into our circle and supplies us with a different perspective that makes us reflect on our situation, differently. Where we go wrong is when we have an emotional reaction to a bump or negative encounter. Take a moment to stop those reactions, take a deep breath and put it into a brighter viewpoint, much like the warm sun pushing through the storm clouds, warming us. A better, more positive outlook in that moment.
How has a recent interaction made you lose sight of your goals or dreams?
What is it about a positive exchange that brought your dream back into focus?
How could a pause give you better responses in frustrating situations?
We are being short-sighted if we give too much attention to our most recent negative interactions. Like storms, we need to wait to see how our situation might evolve. Take time to pause, see the lesson, and push through to brighter days. Thanks for checking in, and I hope you have an amazing week.
