Pay Your Growth Bills

What sacrifices are you making today for a better tomorrow?

Our lives are busy, no doubt. I know my schedule has been packed full of meetings and sporting events, which has given me less time to do other things. I am guilty of procrastinating and scrolling on my phone too much. I have found I am reading even less. This is not helping my growth or implementing my coaching plans. Much of this is my fault. My choices have been poor, and my mindset has not been good either. It made me think of two laws from The 15 Irrefutable Laws of Growth by John Maxwell. Something I need to focus more on in the coming days, week, and months.

Our growth should be thought of as a utility bill. When we want to keep the lights on, we had better pay that electric bill every month. If we want continuous improvement, we must give up unnecessary things and do the work daily to achieve our goals. The Law of Trade-offs is all about giving up certain things to allow yourself to do the work necessary to meet goals. Time wasters, like our cell phones are everywhere. They get in the way of the more important things. The Law of Curiosity is an especially important idea, and I would say one of the most important laws shared from The 15 Irrefutable Laws of Growth. If we are no longer curious about our goals and dreams, we are like a feather lost in the wind. We must remain strong in the mind to chase our growth plan. Keep what excites us in the forefront because that excitement ignites the drive and passion necessary to get what we want. Stay curious my friends.

What must you give up to meet your goals?

What are you interested in and excited about?

How are you taking those interests to the next level to improve yourself?

Our growth as individuals depends on our curiosity and abandoning the things that don’t help us meet our goals. Without a doubt it takes a major commitment to follow these laws. I hope you are still excited and curious as you chase your goals. I hope you are also committed to doing the right things today for a better tomorrow. Thanks for checking in this week and please leave a comment below that will contribute to this conversation.
