You’re the Best

Who needs to hear that you appreciate them and genuinely care for them?

It has been a difficult week for my wife and our family. We lost a beloved mother, and leader of the family. In her last days she was surrounded by family that loved her. Everyone got one last chance to talk with her and express their love. In our last conversation, she said to me, “You’re the best.” What did I do to deserve such praise? That is what is so beautiful about her. She always lifted others up, even at the end, she wished to express love for us all. It is rare to find individuals who exemplify selflessness. My mother-in-law Diane was that kind of person. How are you interacting with those you love and intentionally living a selfless life?

How we treat those around us says a lot about our character and leadership capabilities. From the start, my mother in-law accepted me as one of her own, when her daughter brought me home one weekend. She was always willing to share and give to those around her. My mother-in-law was always in support of our decisions and encouraged us along the way. Even when it meant we would move farther from her. Diane was our cheerleader, much like her daughter is for me. Her words to me felt amazing and brought tears to my eyes. I knew I was loved, and it was truly a special moment. Yes, we are sad and heartbroken right now, but I also wish to pay attention to the message I received this week. Say what needs to be said now, while you have the time and always express love for others.

How do you show acceptance and love for others?

Who are you cheering for and why?

What message should you share with your loved ones, right now?

The importance of showing kindness, love, support, and selflessness have been shared in many of my previous posts. This was just another reminder of making sure we are intentional with our words and actions for those we care about. I hope you are intentional today and please leave a comment below that will contribute to this conversation. For my mother in-law, Diane!
