How can we share our enthusiasm and goals with others?
Lately, I have been feeling excited about this coming year and my future. I have taken time to truly explore some goals and it has reigniting something within me. I have been sleeping better by not worrying about things I can’t control. I feel happier at work and home. Since my Maxwell Leadership Certification in March, I have continued to explore the coaching world. I have started a book group to discuss leadership and I’m enjoying the conversations this group brings. I’m already contemplating my next steps. I have always been the type of person that enjoys conversations centered around leadership and growth. Great learning opportunities arise when we can engage others in things that we find interesting and bring us excitement. We can all have these conversations, but we must be intentional in having them and include those with the right mindset.
It is so important that we pinpoint what gives us joy and excitement. These things are what we should be chasing daily. When we find the goals or activities that ignite a fire in us, we are happier and more fulfilled with what we do. This enthusiasm benefits us, our families, and even our organizations we work with. Think for a moment, what would our organizations look like and feel like if every individual was working with an enthusiastic mindset? An energized staff can bring so much growth to an organization. Every individual has a passion about something. It is up to everyone to chase their interests and find what brings them happiness and joy. It could be the people we work with or those we serve. It may even be something we wouldn’t even think helps our organization but find out that it offers another view on what we do.
We all have friends who love seeing us excited about our goals and share in the passions we chase. Who is the person that fulfills this role for you? I have some great friends back in Minnesota who are only a phone call away. They have always shared in my excitement and offered assistance and direction when asked to. These are the people I bounce ideas off and I’m able to be vulnerable with my learning. New friends also provide guidance. A recent example for me this week was a phone call with an author friend of mine, Dr. Danny Brassell. I shared my recent excitement with him, and he offered encouragement and ideas. Everyone needs a group of friends or colleagues who they feel safe to share ideas and goals with. We need to find these people and build upon this relationship. Without relationships such as these, we risk never chasing a passion project or goal. Share with your friends the fires burning within you.
Find out what the people in your organization are excited about. At the conclusion of this week, I sent out an email to the people within my organization. As I write this, their responses are coming in. Every individual in our organizations is unique and bring great ideas that they are very passionate about. These ideas will provide your organizations with potential growth in areas you may never have imagined. I believe that most people like to keep these feelings secret to avoid judgement. We must seek out others and allow them to share what brings them joy and passion. This takes an enormous amount of trust that is built over time. Leaders must help the people in their organization feel safe when sharing ideas and goals. We want our people to be willing to share what makes them excitement because that helps everyone, as cool and innovative ideas are shared. Make an intentional effort to ask your people what ideas and goals make them excited for tomorrow. What is their internal fire?
Have you identified key things you’re excited about?
What friends or colleagues could you call right now to share your news?
What friends could help you and how can you help them?
How will you reach out to others to ignite their inner fire or goals?
We all must harness ideas, goals, or passion projects that we are super excited about. The ideas that give us an internal fire that makes us get up every day and chase dreams. I hope you find that fire within and chase your goals and dreams this week. Thank you for looking in on this post and please share with us some of your exciting news below. Have a great week!
