What are you pursuing and what steps are you taking to achieve it?
Last week I asked about your dreams. Are they big enough and will they help others? What happens if we are unclear about the first steps of a dream? As I search for the best direction for me, I have found an abundance of information and content to learn from. It is wonderful to have many sources to pull from and individuals who can assist in a variety of ways. My only concerns are time and fear. With a full-time career, how much time do I or can I allow for this new endeavor? My fear is also hindering my decision to pursue this new track of learning. I want to start this and give it all I got, but what will happen and will I screw-up? Ultimately, I would love to be a professional coach one day. This is a topic and pursuit I get very excited about. Helping people who want growth in their lives, is my pursuit!
Recently, I had the pleasure of listening to an app in which John Maxwell shared a few learning nuggets. He was discussing consistency and how it helps us meet our goals by building one task onto another and another. As we look at our efforts surrounding a goal or dream, we see how each effort gets us closer to the level of achievement we desire. Sometimes the simplest process can make your dreams work. What is that process? I will tell you this, its a simple act every single day! John Maxwell referred to the Rule of 5, in his discussion. Simply put, do five things each day that relates to your goal. Daily efforts build upon one another and take us where we want to go. For best results, I suggest you choose one goal and pinpoint three to five actions you can do each day. We all want success, but success cannot be achieved without action taken by you.
We need to surround ourselves with the right people. If we remain around people at the same level or experience as us, we risk stunting our growth and theirs. We are better off finding individuals who push us at a higher level then we are. This allows us to improve. Think of a time when you were trying something new. You probably were not successful until you tried several times and learned from each opportunity. This is growth at its core. We try and improve; we take another step and improve. I think back to my path of learning. Massive action, of course is the first step I took, but then I chose to have people in my life who would ask the hard questions and push me further than I could imagine. We all need people in our inner circle that see greatness in us and won’t settle for mediocre actions we may take.
What fears are stopping you from pursuing a dream?
Do you have a clear vision of the process to achieving goals and dreams?
Are there individuals who will push you to achieving your goals and dreams?
What is the first step in your pursuit?
Life is exciting! Our dreams and goals are exciting! I hope you are completely jacked-up about your goals and dreams. Most importantly, I hope you are pursuing all your dreams. When we get a whole population excited about things they are pursuing, we get meaning in our world. Thanks so much for checking in on my post this week.
